Almost Wordless Wednesday on Thursday

I did this set for Maillers worldwide Summer contest.. The challenge was to make a matching bracelet necklace and earrings in chainmaille.. I started it in sterling then decided at the $40 + a troy oz. that maybe copper was a better idea!  The contest is open until the end of August ...

Starving Jewelry Artist Carnival Blog.... " Do You Name Your Pieces?"

Well the simple answer to that question is NO!  I DO NOT name jewellery pieces...  Unless they are going into a show.. or being sold on Etsy....  And then it's usually my husband that names them, However long ago when I did large fused plates I did name everything... I would spend longer figurng out the name then I spent slaving over the plates!

This is called Xray fish.... there is actually a dichro fish behind the copper skeleton which doesn't really show up.

The fused Mozaic turltle was done for a show I did in a gallery in Saskatchewan... the show was called "Broken Glass" and was all large fused mozaic plates... This one is originally called ' The Turtle'

Etsy gets cute 'original' names like winter tree... spring tree,  Jelly in Green Lagoon....

I would  much rather  make a piece to fit a title than to have to figure out titles for my own work!

Almost Wordless Wednesday & Bead Table Wednesday (BTW)

First off.. BTW...  My first attempt at resin... actually there are two pieces.. the other one had a solid back which was soldered on... no gaps in the solder... but there was a gap where the loop joins and yes the resin all drained out... Anyone know what where or what the above  image is?

And BTW the original meaning for BTW (By The Way) I am not in love with Resin at all...  Not being able to touch something that I can see for 6 hours... and then having to leave it a further 3 days...  Yea yea.. I'm a lampworker I stick my beads in a kiln for 12 or 15 hours... however I can't see them... I don't have a great deal of desire to play with something I can't see!

My token flower picture... Wish they were mine but they aren't, they belong to the Gardens at Roosevelt's cottage on Campobello!

Fly Me To The Moon... Starving Artist July Jewellery Challenge

When I first read about this months Starving Artist Jewellery Challenge...  I just noticed that it was a lunar challenge... It wasn't until I had the focal bead made that I noticed the title on the thread was 'Fly Me To The Moon'  So I made a bunch of liitle copper rockets... but no matter how hard I tried to incorporate them into the necklace... my little copper rockets screamed TACKY...  so they were removed and turned into a pair of rocket and moonstone earrings...

The pendant is my attempt/version of wire wrapping, the chain is copper sheet copper wire and 5  flame enamelled beads... big yellow full moon beads!

Update on Canada Post

Well we have our mail back...  First 'mail' was delivered last tuesday...  Today I got a letter that was mailed in Eastport Maine.... It was mailed June 20...  As the crow flies Eastport is 8 miles  (12 km)  That letter moved less than .4 miles a day... I'm sure the crow could have got it here in 2 days!

Today I sent my mother a birthday present... bubble wrap envelope (approx 10 in * 10 in * 1 in) cost me $17.00 Express Post 3 day delivery... However since Canada Post is  still backlogged by the strike they are not guaranteeing the 3 day delivery... They had no problem taking my money for the service but it may still take the 10 days that normal parcel mail would.... !

New electroformed Tree Bead

I thought it would be kind of fun to put a copper tree on the back of one of my tree beads! I'm really pleased with the way it turned out!

Now all I have to do is make a piece of jewellery with one of them!

All sugestions welcome!

Happy Birthday Canada!

Today is Canada Day... Canada's 144th Birthday!
So far it's a much nicer day than was forecast, but the clouds are starting to roll in!

And I've decided that today is also EMM's Birthday... He's 6 today  He's waiting for the can of Sheba that my husband promised him!
