Week 52 Gather

Well this brings us to the end of Year 2 of Sally Russicks' Focus on Life and I think this interpretation of this weeks prompt is stretching the topic to the limit; but how about "we gathered round the patio door on Christmas night to watch the gorgeous Sunset over the cove after the storm".

Lord's Cove Christmas night Dec 2014

Wishing everyone the best in 2015 May you be safe and Happy!

Also I posted a Pay It Forward Boxing Day blog Friday morning if you want to see what I got or sign up for my Pay it forward 'surprise gift'  click on 'surprise gift' !

Pay-IT-Forward ... Happy holidays!

Friday Dec 26 2014

Along with my Christmas Ornament from Becky Pancake that I received last week in Sally Russicks 2014 holiday ornament swap I received a Pay-it-forward ornament,  I signed up on Becky's blog a year ago...Play-it-Forward

Isn't it pretty?

Now it is my turn to pay it forward.   Three of the people that comment on this blog will receive a pay it forward gift from me sometime in the next year.  (I'll put all the names in a hat and draw three names)  Up for grabs .... well I think it should be a surprise, however you can tell me your favorite colour(s)  in the comment and whether you wear jewellery play with beads... like home made ornaments,  etc....

And I promise even though it is Boxing Day many places including Canada I will not be sending you unwanted/unloved  gifts or left over food!

2014 Holiday ornament swap & Week 51 'ornament'

My partner this year is Becky Pancake    I love the ornament I got from her, I just wish she'd signed and dated the back.. It will have a place of honor on the endless supply of Charlie Brown trees my husband brings home every year.  This year he was so proud of himself when he brought in the tree... He didn't even have to cut it down it had fallen in the hurricane on July 5th...  Does it look like dead fall... sort of!  I will say that the ornaments all show up beautifully on it!

This is what I sent  (the mistletoe bead can be taken out and worn as a pendant) I added a hook after I photographed it...

And this is what I received   I love it my tree will love it!

I hope everyone spends a little time checking out the rest of the ornaments in this years exchange!

Week 48: Bliss(ful)

 Bliss(ful)

:extremely happy; full of joy
:providing perfect happiness or great joy.

Well I'm going to point out that 6 inches of wet snow with a layer of ice on top is neither blissful nor does it make the house shoveller happy or full of joy... fortunately he is home or there would have been a crooked little trail one shovel wide escaping up the driveway....
I don't see many breakfast coffees on this deck in the near future a fact which I find totally depressing, I love sitting out here in the summer....

I am happy that my birds did fly west this week... and that all the rest of my Christmas orders are done
and should be shipped by Monday!

Week 47 ~ Hope(ful)

Week 46: ~ Faith(ful)

Focus on Life week 46   Ugh..   That means there are only 6 weeks left in 2014 where did it go?
What does Faith(ful) mean....
:loyal, constant, and steadfast.
:having a strong belief
"The toughest thing to do sometimes is have faith.  Faith in yourself, your path in this big crazy world.  We get so down on ourselves and its tough to climb out of the hole.  This week we will focus on being full of faith and  happy with our everyday lives."

Anyone who follows/friend-ed me on FB will be familiar with the following image..  I have enameled copper poppies in my etsy store  Nov 10 I had a custom order for 8 red poppies with black centers... The woman thought she was ordering something from the image in the store... she wasn't but I had faith that I could figure out how to do the order  and this is what I made....
"Least we Forget"

The same day at supper I got a call out of the blue from a store that I used to make stained glass birds for in the 90's wanting an order  I haven't made any of them for over 5 years but the glass is still in the dungeon so that's where I'll be for the next couple of weeks...  Our basement is really damp and unheated and as the snow falls outside the window I'd even rather be shoveling the driveway then stuck in the dungeon making birds... but I said I would do it and have the order shipped by Dec 1... & I know my faithful companion will not help.... She'll wonder why I am ignoring her .... while she sleeps in front of the oil stove....
Faith (less) Companion !

Off to play in the dungeon!

Week 45~ Grateful

I'm back; After  32 days 11.865 km (~7,400 miles), 5 provinces, 24 states and Washington DC.. what am I grateful for... the fact that the snow held off until Nov 2, the day after we got home!

Couldn't resist taking a picture of this poor lost beach ball in the stream, it showed up in our yard half way through the sunner

This tree was turning colour  when we left at the end of September, I'm surprised it still has leaves!

The other thing that I'm grateful for is that our brakes failed in a gas station in central Tennessee not going down the mountain into Chattanooga 3 hours later.... Also it was a nice warm sunny day to sit on a curb in a parking lot and read a book for 5 hours!

Week 37 ~ Windows

Well we were off Island yesterday and I saw the perfect window, however neither of us had a phone or a camera to take it's picture...  We were in a little art gallery called Crow Town Gallery near Lubec Maine and they had 'Framed' the window in the back wall of the gallery overlooking the salt marsh.  So as you moved around the gallery the image in the frame changed.  Very neat, but no picture so you will have to settle for a bunch of my stained glass windows....  In no real order except possibly chronological (?)

Corel Cat circa 1996 ?  Sandblasted, leaded copper foil overlay etc....

T-Rex was a vegetarian sand blasted overlay copper foil (horrid picture... never seems to be the right time of day to take stained glass that is 'installed')  Circa 1997

Hummingbird panel  copperfoil circa  2001

Kingfisher and Raven (horrid pictures)  Copperfoil and wire work circ 2003
These were done for a show in SK called for the birds..

Commercial Bevel set that got stretched to fit the hole  leaded ... circa  2005

More flowers and Bee
What I spent my week doing  For some reason I twist the 'first' row (odd count peyote) and spend hours ripping things out or just cutting the threads...  Finished with NO TWIST!

Week 31 ~ Outside the Box

Well this is more inside the box... I'm, living in a grey damp world... the fog rolled in last week and will not leave... did I say it's  cold and damp here, we seem to see the sun for a few seconds a day
You've seen this view  of my sometimes water sometimes intertidal shluck quite a few times in the last 18 months  My world currently ends at the edge of the lawn...

'View' from the ferry landing....

Well I'm all for getting out of this box!  To see how other people interpreted this weeks prompt click on the linkz link!

Week 30 ~Celebrate a moment of life. ...

My husband has a 30 ft Acadian  Yawl called Euridice aka "Money Pit"  The engine quit about a month ago ... So the engine was pulled and turned out to be a pile of rust with very few functioning pieces..  ie it probably should have quit long ago!

My sweet comments along the lines of you wanted a sail boat now you have a SAIL BOAT didn't fly!

Anyway last weekend he finally decided that the engine wasn't going to miraculously re-install itself and work, so he went SAILING...  He actually attended the Roosevelt Cup Race off of Campobello Island.  Sunday afternoon there is a reception that I usually attend.  A couple of us walk on the ferry and get picked up from the ferry landing....  I came home with Captain Jim  and My husband got towed out to his dinghy... Where he got left for the night, the following morning he had to row the dinghy towing the boat for over a mile so that he could catch the tide and start "SAILING" home....  As you can see he did make it!

Not sure this is a moment in life that he will want to remember, and I have discovered that he doesn't listen to anything anyone says unless they are talking about boat engines! So this will always be remembered as the summer of 'boat-brain'.

week 29 ~ Celebrate sweetness

Well I couldn't persuade my 3 cats to all wander in front of the camera at the same time so you'll have to settle for my flower tower... which survived the hurricane (because the base is broken and we couldn't move it)
Impatience... colours were suppose to be random...

Then there is the bracelet that I made this week...ended up much smaller than intended so I guess I have to keep it!  :)
Leather bracelet with a Raku glass bead

Week 28 ~Celebrate the Season

What is there to celebrate about Hurricane season?

Our power was only out 3 times totaling 15 hours all during daylight  Neighbors lost power for 5 days... there are people who still don't have it back, None of my trees fell down.. we're sheltered from the NW... however there is lots of softwood firewood laying everywhere else on the island!   My flowers are flat but are starting to pop back up (unless the deer ate them!)

What did I do when the power was out... Played with some barbed needles and some wool
Folk Art Dory's

Fish Scape
Managed to get the second one a bit closer to 'square!'

Check on the linkze link below to see what other people have to celebrate during hurricane season!

Week 27 ~ Celebration

Today is the 4th of July, so all the American's are celebrating today... However Tuesday was Canada Day here... but I live on a small Canadian island right on the border so here we have a  4 day celebration...

However at the moment we are under a hurricane/tropical storm watch as the first named hurricane fo the year  Arthur is howling up the East Coast... Usually they head out to sea before they get here... ie they don't follow the forecast path....

So what else is there to celebrate this week....
My peony  ... this is the first time my peony has bloomed in about 5 years normally it gets buds and they go moldy and I get no flowers!
I wired up a few pendants... A black cat (found this bead in a purse), a green flower bead made with copper slug mesh, and a tribute to the east coast sardine industry "Fresh from the Weir"

And the day I read  what this weeks prompt was going to be  I won a bracelet from Kathleen's blog Four Miles North Of Nowhere (I started reading her blog because that's where I've always thought I lived!)

Driving North from the South rim of the Grand Canyon May 2010
Casa Batllo Barcelona Spain April 2014

I actually bought a water colour painting of Casa Batllo from a street artist  while we were there this time... this is a really neat building both inside and out!

Week 24: ~ Have FUN!!!

Ended up in St Andrew's at lunch time on Thursday, the bar we ate lunch in has a jam night most thursdays... saw this sign as we were leaving... I'm sure it doesn't really say free winos with a jug of beer...... But that's what I thought it said when I walked out the door!
(We were in SA because I wanted a footstool to go with my vinyl Adirondack Chair!  Of course I ended up buying a new chair to go with the new  footstool since my chairs are all old and faded!)

Free Winos...
Just what everyone wants for free in a bar... WINOS!

Week 22 ~ In Bloom

What's in bloom in my garden and my house
Not much blooming yet.... except for fields of forget-me-nots, a few straggling magnolia blossoms, the beginning of the johnny jump ups and an endless sea of dandelions

I forgot my red orchid last week and the white one wanted a cameo... I also have a crown of thorns which also blooms most of the time

No pictures of the hanging baskets I bought two weeks ago as I did nothing but buy them!

WEEK 19 ~ Good Things Inside

Since it's actually trying to be spring here I couldn't think  of anything more appropriate for this weeks prompt than flower buds opening
My Daffodils (guess they are technically narcissus)
Does anyone know what this tree/flower is.. they were growing in Tenerife  the flower buds look like upside down bunches of bananas.
